1. Clean Your Phone

1. This is something that I don’t do NEARLY as much as I should, but that’s wiping down and disinfecting your phone, tablets and tech. Our phones go with us EVERYWHERE. They are a great place for germs to hang out and the best thing to do is Use a 70% alcohol wipe or Clorox Disinfecting Wipes, you may gently wipe the exterior surfaces of your Phone,” According to apples updated support page “Don’t use bleach. Avoid getting moisture in any openings, and don’t submerge your iPhone in any cleaning agents.”

However…… you can clean your phone 10x a day, but if your hands are not clean it’s pointless. Which brings me to the next tip.

2. Wash Your Hands

This one you’ve heard A MILLION TIMES but WASH YOUR HANDS. Properly washing your hands is very important. So how do you properly wash your hands? Well there’s actually a science to it.

Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap

Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.

Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the "Happy Birthday" song from beginning to end twice. If you guys have some more exciting songs put them in the comments below.

3. Wash Your Bedding

On to tip number three. This is something we do EVERY week and I HIGHLY recommend it. And that’s WASH YOUR BEDDING. This one can be such a pain to do and the process can take FOREVER. But if you have a schedule it makes it easier.

On average, most experts recommend weekly washings. You might be able to get away with washing your linens once every two weeks if you’re pressed for time but weekly washing has TONS of health benefits. Not only are you sleeping in your own dirt, sweat, body oils, and skin cells, but you’ve also got a colony of dust mites taking up residence on your bed.

Since dust mites are common allergens, having them in your bed can provoke allergy symptoms like a runny nose, watery eyes, sneezing, and general discomfort that makes it hard to get good rest at night.

Dirty sheets can also cause acne and inflame eczema for those with sensitive skin. But all gross facts aside….the end result of Sliding between crisp, clean sheets is one of the best feelings in the world.

4. Take Your Shoes Off

For number for were heading to the door. Some people do, some people don’t, some could care less. And that’s taking your shoes off at the door! A study done by the University of Arizona found an average of 421,000 different bacteria on shoes. This will gross you out but feces were detected on the bottoms of 96% of shoes that were tested in a study.

In addition, E. coli was detected on 27% of the shoes, along with seven other kinds of bacteria, which can cause urinary tract infection, and other bacteria which can cause respiratory infections.

“We walk through things like bird poop, animal waste, and germs on public restroom floors, all of which are sources for Ecoli,” this was from Kelly Reynolds, a microbiologist and professor at the University of Arizona. So guys, although it can be easier to leave your shoes on….take those puppies off because you NEVER know what your tracking in.

5. Disinfect All High Touch Areas

Last …but definitely not least. Disinfect ALL high touch areas. This includes things like doorknobs, counters, tables, faucets, toys cutting boards, light switches, and cupboard handles.

These areas have TONS of germs and viruses can live here for up to a month! Using disinfecting wipes can be simple, easy, not too time-consuming.

Please refer to all labels for instructions and the amount of time it should sit. The best thing to do is first clean the surface with a general cleaner, then to disinfect. Make sure the surface is visibly wet and let sit for time specified on the label.
